Title: Recording/Engineering software

So everyone talk about what they use for sound recording.

I am usually switching between Cool Edit Pro (ver. 2, NOT the Adobe version) and Audacity. Though I like running programs without pirating them, CEP is much more powerful, user friendly, and good for people that aren't so good with mixers (real or virtual) or that can't calculate algorithms in their heads.

For engineering, I was using LMMS, but it's once again very unfriendly and limited. I prefer FL Studio, though I haven't engineered anything in a while.

What do you use? Why?

I have Audacity, seems to work pretty well. And Steinberg Clean for sound quality (no idea what version) works nicely too.

Nothing but Cool Edit Pro for my sound recording.  I've been using it since the dawn of time.  Occasionally I'll use Cakewalk for musical stuff, but that's usually only when MIDI is involved too.
