Post by: trevelyn on May 20, 2007, 03:27:01 PM
Friday the 13th was my favorite NES game.  though, they all give me awesome memories, that one was the best.
best music, based on the best horror series of movies, and can be easily beaten in 10 minutes according to this:

The Great Waldo Search. Truly the worst game I have ever in my life played. Pick up a copy at www.vimm.net and complain with me.

Excellent topic trev. However I'd say that the general consensus is that Friday the 13th is not a very good game (see video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p713bNaO4A)

I wouldn't go as far as that and I'd say it ranks as one of the better NES games simply because it's four players at the same time. Wait, that was Nightmare on Elm Street? Well yeah then Ft13 sucks ass. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1raUvGNbZFg) I really hope you were just messing around.

I'm going to assume that you like it because it ties in with the movie. That's alright, I can accept differing opinions. I mean just wait until someone posts the first OMG 911 is a joke message.
But I don't know, best music? ???

Contra was the best.  My brother and I played that for weeks at a time.  And it had the best cheat code ever.  Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start

no one said anything about controllers yet :(

well the running pad for track games er whatever the fsck it was called, was kinda cool, i mean it was like the very first ddr pad but for track not dancing. - but dancing is timing, so is video games, so..

The huge Arcade controller with the arcade like joystick was always too expensive for me

The light gun rocked, that was serious revolutionary shit there.  so cool, and you could use a mirror and shoot the ducks and people over your shoulder via the mirror!! too much gay fun!! NES rulez.

The maximum something er rather, shaped like a smaller Genesis controller but nintendo grey colored and had a big round Orange d-pad, sucked. i hated that thing...

The Power glove was for the cool kids, they were too cool to worry about beating the games and wanted to show off to the chicks. - sucked.

well, thats all i can think of, .. I really only liked the light gun, the running pad that (cats liked to piss on - AngryNintendoNerd) and the original controller with the black d-pad.

well i kinda like this one too :P

Remember that stupid NES robot?  How useless was that thing?  The only game we ever had for that was Gyromite, which was stupid and boring.  NES was revolutionary, but that robot thing was just retarded.

We had the huge arcade controller with the big joystick.  It didn't really add much to the game, but it was just cool to have.  It did offer a rapid fire button, though, which kept your thumb from blistering.

^If he only had the Power Pad as his cape he'd be unstoppable like Voltron.  Is that his cheek, or a bruise?

Wow, you had a "ROB"?  OMG there was only like one other game it was compatable with... My friend has 2 or 3 of them; it's shite but has a good resale value these days.

I'd just like to say that I'm the proud new owner of all 4 Dragon Warriors, and all 3 Lolo's.  I was too stupid to beat Lolo when I was 10, and I never lived it down...

Do you have Nintendo Power #1? : Tips for the second quest of Zelda, Mario 2, plus info on Pee-Wee's NEW movie, Big Top Pee Wee!

I always got a kick out of Milon's Secret Castle.  It's more difficult than it needs to be, but I still enjoy it.

And oh god, Duck Hunt.  I dream of shooting that asshole dog.

Maniac Mansion is by far my favorite NES game. I have two copies and each of them ran me over $30, just a couple of years ago. And after buying both, I found the rom on almost every emulation site. Shit.

Have you guys played Maniac Mansion Deluxe? The mouse interface makes way more sense and the graphics are a little nicer. Other than that it's still the classic game.

Wow, that's cool. I just downloaded the nes rompack from isohunt and was disappointed maniac mansion wasn't in there. There was another game called 'day of the tentacle' for pc that was made by the same people. In it there was an place where you could play the original maniac mansion that came out for the commodore (think it was commodore).

Track and Field.

No, it wasn't a spectacular game and at the age of 6 even after you were tired of running you'd get down on your knees and start slamming the ginormous palate mat with your hands. But why would this game, even though it's not very fun, fantastic nor entertaining when you're by your self be mentioned? Simple. This game is the reason why we had to replace our first VCR and two glasses that came tumbling down with it made it even better.

Scraggly kid hauling ass on wooden floor in one area+Flimsy entertainment stand and teetering of a obscenely large VCR = the major lulz and roffle lamow.

Operation: Wolf.

Shit, I still play this game to this day at the local arcade. Well, it's not really an arcade any more so much as it's an area to score some blow or weed while hoping the local Punch Out!! Super Mario Bro. and Area 51 machines aren't destroyed due to some asshole thinking they're witty or cool by kicking the joysticks or pouring soda down the vents. Bunch of pricks.

However as a small child when I first started playing I couldn't comprehend running out of ammo. What, you had clips?! You could run out of ammo and had to reload in the middle of an insane gun fight?! Dogs eat your FACE?! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE? It's a game that follows every single rail shooter up to this day. You'll still see guys tumble around on the ground and fire a few burst shots, tumble, burst, tumble burst, hide next to something that explodes, tumble, die. For some reason I've always felt the clear-all weapon in that game did superior firing awesome mega damage. Even to games that didn't have anything to do with it five feet away took damage.

Adventure Island.

You'd get tired of playing Mario so you would play Mario in a baseball hat and a grass skirt. Hell, you had a skate board and threw fire balls. What more do you want?

I've been playing my NES a little bit more lately, so I can finally chime back in with some of my fav. games.

Maniac Mansion - My g/f and I just spent like, 3 hours playing this last night. This is still the only "point-and-click" style game I can stand, and I think it's the best thing LucasArts ever made.
Marble Madness - C'mon. You know you loved it, too.
Super Mario Bro's 1 and 3 - I'm not as crazy about 2, but 1 and 3 helped define the side-scroller genre.
Mother - The first game in the "Earthbound" Series. Mother 1 (which was localized but never released, later hacked as Earthbound Zero) is a great RPG, and though it essentially tells the same story as the SNES version, it's extremely innovative for its time.
Destiny of an Emperor 1 + 2 - Please tell me other people remember these games.
Zelda - There's very little one can say about Zelda that hasn't been said multiple times. Great game.

So, at the tender age of 23, I FINALLY discovered Binaryland after buying a "101-in-1" controller at Walgreen's that was almost all NES games that have had their copyrights expired. That game is just way too hard.

Excitebike, however, is still the best racing game ever created.
