Here is what we have made, comes out tomorrow Nov 20th 2008 9PM EST.
http://weaknetlabs.com/linux/wnla_v1-0FINAL.flv
As usual, you can play the clip above with VLC Media player. :)
-
I'll be downloading it tomorrow. I've got a brand new hard drive and will be supporting super weak networked laboratories (TM 1845) tomorrow around 5 P.M. central.
-
what version of ubuntu was it built on?
-
8.04, and yeah, it's extremely sexy. newer versions will be built from newer ubuntu releases of course, i just liked 8.04.

Agreed. I recently downloaded the new 8.10 and I haven't really tried to put my finger on the differences yet (besides now it seems a LOT harder to connect to my wireless router) but 8.04 just *feels* better... I guess that's why it got slated for LTS.
-
It was slated for long-term release because of their release cycle. Ubuntu follows a set development/release cycle, with LTS editions appearing a regular intervals, and a portion of the team being devoted for continued development and support for that release until the support-time is up.

i wonder who slates them?? CHRISTIAN SLATER?? LAWLZ

okay, sorry its late, i had a bunch of last minute things to add. like DNSMasq, MySQL, IRC_Client, etc.. I'll update when it's up, it's uploading now...

godot, can you please add it to TPB for me? I think this will have more seeders seeing how it\'s not BETA.
-
Your distro will be breaking the Linux virginity of a new hard drive. Be happy my friend.
As of right now it's 18% complete.
Updates to come.

234 downloads! :D

I write to you from the future where all of your laboratories are weak and hamburger helper is what the nation is founded upon.
At this point in time I'm currently running the system from my USB stick and really digging the whole lay out. The only thing I didn't like was the introduction tune that would play over and over if you accidentally typed in the wrong password to get in to the system it self.
Beyond that however, it's nice and lean and I'm digging everything that it comes with. Right now however it's pretty late in the night and I need to get some sleep. I'll give a better pro and con that I find with the OS when I've got a little bit more time to play with it. So far it's fan-fucking-tastic.

theres a cool windows application that tullywacker showed me, if anyone wants to use my OS and has a 2GB USB stick (or larger) format it with windows and download and run "unetbootin," it will install the ISO to the USB stick like a LIVE iso. so you dont have to hear the CD Spinning, it's faster, and you can mess with it all you want, fuck with the servers, linux config files etc.. and if you hose it, you simply reboot!! :D
http://lubi.sourceforge.net/unetbootin.html
theres one for Ubuntu too with a listing repository, but I couldn't get it to work properly.

Hey, I have recoded a GUI version of catchme-ng, the program we have spoken about for trolling for a stolen laptop:
The concept is cool, it searches your airodump text file for a MAC address and if it finds it, it plays a siren sound using only perl!
It actually creates a second Tk window/perl script so it doesn't "blank-out" the existing Tk window and I am now adding a button to make a system call to kill the child process it creates. (without using "system 'killall perl'" im not sure how to get it's childs PID using only Perl)
So it will look differently I'm sure with a few extra features/buttons etc. Hell, maybe I will add it to start airodump for you.
For some reason, I can't stop coding.. :/

Will WeakNet Linux install with wubi?
-
uhh, eh, ermm.. i don't think so, Wubi downloads a special version of ubuntu and installs it. I heard that if you have the ISO you want installed in the same folder as the wubi.exe and unplug your ethernet, wubi.exe will find the ISo and install it.. but, you're better off using this method:
http://weaknetlabs.com/texts/PDF/unetbootin.pdf
or ubiquity on the desktop.

Dear Trevelyn,
Hi, I'm using Weaknet Linux. It's super groovy. In fact, after I had put it on the pen drive as you had suggested days prior I've found more uses for it in my every day going ons than I had previously anticipated. There were times when I had thought to my self, "golly, wouldn't it be swell to get on this computer without the hassle of this slow and cumbersome Windows?"
Here I am at school. The networks are down and I need to use the computers to get work done. I was mighty pissed. As our network is down it won't let me turn in any papers, print anything or even log into my name. While I was mighty miffed I had realized on my key-chain was the might 2gigs of justice. After my USB stick had gained access to the proper slot and I had selected F12 at boot-up to boot from the USB stick, I gained access to the school computers.
We have internet connection, but we have so many dead profiles on right now that no one can log into their names to do any work. Well, no one but me that is. Thank you, trevelyn!

You could do a testimonial in the infomercial!

...you can start giving me the 1337 points now, I CAN TAKE IT!...
speaking of 133, check out what 1337tool version 2.0 is looking like so far:
http://weaknetlabs.com/temporary/1337toolv2.0.png
There will be 2 new applications including catchme-ng v2.0, and most of the others will be completely updated as well. :)
-
You gain 1337 points out the ass from here on out. You may need to buy a diaper.
-
Indeed. though my boss didn't want to endorse a "security suite" or netsploit related distro for fear of appearances, I've used WNLA as my OS of choice on my work PC, as well as the computers at school. There may be OSs better focused on live-environments or small footprints, but no other has such a high factor of pure sexhay.

1,032 downloads!
-
1,201 downloads!!! i may have to upgrade my godaddy plan :(
anyways, i think i am going to make each version have a new window manager... Because not everyone likes Gnome, and hell, it's a HUGE WM. And the way we set our programs and such up, we can have you choose any WM you want that we have and then run an update script for that version.
So far, the next version looks cool, it will have enlightenment, (can't be built from debian :( so it will stay ubuntu based), will be 700MB smaller, sleeker - better looking, will have 1337tool version 2.0, web-hacking-portal 2.1, catchme-n g version 2.0, and much more!
:)
-
So far, the next version looks cool
So "FINAL" was just for dramatic effect? That's nice to hear, I might try it out then..

No, FINAL is right, i'm done with version 1.0 I am talking about version 2.0+ (future releases) Getting used to fluxbox/e16 wasn't easy for me. It took me about 2 days to get this far:
Full Desktop featuring enlightenment:
http://weaknetlabs.com/temporary/wnla_v2/wnla_v2-alpha1.png
some menus and graphics and such:
http://weaknetlabs.com/temporary/wnla_v2/wnla_v2-alpha2.png
And here, i started nautilus which seems to run nicely in the e16 env, here i started the installer script:
http://weaknetlabs.com/temporary/wnla_v2/wnla_v2-alpha3.png
I figure i will release a v2+ in 3 or 4 months, iunno.. i like coding, but theres so much Wii and DS to catch up on since the release of version 1.0! Anyways..
getting the menus customized was a bicth. I had to write all of those by hand in small scripts that all linked to eachother. heh. so far, thank goodness, gksudo still works in the absence or Gnome. (well a few apps do fine)
any ideas/suggestions?
Oh yeah, 1,710 downloads!

here's some new images, it looks so sweet and now fits on a cdr! :)

Makes me sad I honestly haven't had enough time to us 1.0 for any longer than a few spirts here and there while at school or home. Really haven't had the chance to sit down and get my hands dirty with it. But I do throughly enjoy the time I've spent with it.

would any of you be apposed to writing a review if you have used the OS?
http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/Operating-Systems/Linux-Distributions/WeakNet-Linux-43383.shtml
that would make meh happy *rainbowsmiley* *rainbowsmiley*
-
I'll be more than glad to write a review. Though it isn't installed on any of my systems, I do primarily use it when I'm out and about and use the tools to screw around when I'm a little bored with doing work or just curious as to my current situation. It has been quite the helpful tool all around honestly.
-
awesome!! thank you! they emailed me and i was stunned. I cant wait till my 90 day probation is over at distrowatch and they give me my own page. By then 2.0 might be out. 2.0 is very impressive now that i have been molding the e17 window manager by hand. (not easy but fun) i found some flaws and emailed them to the guy in charge of the project. also, i was asked to help assistant people in need with the remastersys project at the klikit linux forums! made me warm and fuzzy inside *rainbowsmiley*
-
I saw setting up a virtual machine today and went to the site to browse around at the various distributions they have available; upgrades and all that fun stuff. Behold! (http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/cat/45?page=1) Weaknet making its rounds!
Also, in the middle of writing the review still. Just tinkering with the tools more so I have a better understanding of what I'm writing about. And it's always nice to give a fleshed out review of the total package anyway.
-
thanks to everyone who wrote a review on softpedia! and yeah, i was surprised to see it on vmware too!
-
They had also removed the EULA pop up when you log into the system. You may want to pick a bone with 'em about that due to the over flowing of script kiddies across the world.

hahahah!! it's okay, that was rather annoying anyways, Tully and I are just gonna put the EULA on the website as soon as we get it from Rogueclown, so, rogueclown, check your fucking email this month!
