I only have a few questions. I use "people" a lot in these questions... By people I do not just mean the youth.

Why do people like rap? There's nothing wrong with some rap, but I'm talking about popular rap.
Why do people refuse to listen to music more than 3 years old? - This refers to the youth.
Why do people do this and why do people like it?
http://www.youtube.com/v/JPqslJsZxeY&rel=1 - Great song by The Doors fucking ruined
Why does anyone watch American Idol?
Why is it that only 1/100 people know Rush, The Doors, or TMBG?
Why do people like Britney Spears and The Jonas Brothers?
Why the hell does 99% of the people that know Rush think that their best album is Moving Pictures?
Why don't many Rush fans like Caress of Steel?
Why do people like Slipknot more than Metallica?
Why does the dictionary that the PLA uses recognize Slipknot and not Metallica?
What the hell is wrong with the radio?!
Why do they always play the shittiest of music?
When the radio plays good music, why is that the only song they ever play by that artist (e.g. The radio plays Stairway to Heaven and other songs from Led Zeppelin IV often, but never anything else by them)? I've never found a TMBG or Talking Heads song on the radio.
Why do the "Classic Rock" stations play songs from the 80s and 90s most of the time?

This seems like enough questions for now.

Where is the dictionary that the PLA uses? rbcp's house?

I'm willing to guess because 'slipknot' is an actual word. Metallica, not so much.

Why do you like nothing but oldies and hate anything that's new? There's absolutely nothing wrong with today's music. You shouldn't care so much that other people like different things than you do.

Oh, Snap!

I'm not going to answer all of your questions, but I can tell you something about the longevity of music. New music is so oversaturated on the radio that most listeners grow quickly sick of it. It gets oversaturated because popular songs sell ad space - it's a basic business model.

I see nothing wrong with modern music. I mean, I'm not crazy about some new bands, but I'm also not crazy about some old bands, either.

Metallica stopped being original fairly quickly. Slipknot, though maybe not as listener friendly, did something that few bands in the mainstream did - they were completely inaccessible, and that was pretty sweet.

Adaptations of old music into new music is 1 part paying tribute and 1 part latching onto another group's success. Most major-label recording artists are asked/told by their agent or recording company which covers/tributes/adaptations they're going to make.

More than 1/100 people know who Rush and the Doors are. Why do only 1/100 people know who Gustav Mahler is? Get off your high horse there, chief.

Obviously that was an exaggeration, but that's just how it seems to me sometimes, captain.

I like some newish stuff, such as CAKE, Social Distortion, and Franz Ferdinand.

I just hate it when people blast the stupidest crap everywhere.
They blast it in their car, on the sidewalk, and in their garage.
They also play the shitty music in stores.

Take a look at some top 40 hit lists from the 60s and 70s. There you'll find some stuff that you like and a lot of genuine crap that you'll hate. And people bitched and moaned because there was so much crappy pop music on the radio, blasting everywhere.

And the crappy music of today is awesome if you're going by 1960's/1970's standards. Their crappy stuff was awful. We always think music of the past was amazing because we only remember the good stuff.

And why do people listen to Britney Spears? It's because her songs are great. So are her videos. She's put out consistently awesome music for a decade now, starting with her very first hit. Britney is one of the few people I would bother to see in concert. I don't care that she's a robot and doesn't write her own music or that she's trailer trash. As an entertainer, she's great and that's all that matters. I have every song Britney Spears has ever done and absolutely nothing by Rush. Neener neener!

i am assuming (hoping) that this decade '10s will bring some new good music...

'70s had good music
'80s not that much (perhaps with some exceptions)
'90s had great music
'00s not that much

so i assume with the above trends that '10s should have some great music.. what do you think?
