Police in the US state of Georgia said a misdialled number led two strangers to trade hostile calls and text messages before arranging a meeting where one shot the other.

Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman Veda Lamar Nichols told the Savannah Morning News that a man, 22, faces an aggravated assault charge.

The 22-year-old suspect was jailed after a 24-year-old man was shot in a car park.
