Title: Finding Phone Lines

As I was walking around my neighbor hood I noticed a small trench with fiber optic cables in it, also inside was a little orange ball exactly like the one shown:

I googled what was on the ball and found out it was a marker phone companies use to mark what type of wires or pipes are under ground. If someone were to get one of the Dynatel Locators (http://www.cablemasterinc.com/products/Locating_Marking_Product_Brochure%5B1%5D_v1.pdf) couldn't they find any existing phone cables under the ground?

Yes, but I can and have proved that I can locate Underground Telco Cables and buried service wires with two 1 foot pieces of #12 ground wire.   :D

 :D hahaha like searching for ghosts! in the city i live in we have little signs about 12"x3" saying "do not dig" sometimes too, if you look up at the [telephone] cables on one side of a busy street, chances are there's underground cables one the opposite side. wanna see some pics of underground cables? http://zombie.el.cx/texts/phreak/manholes.html

LordNod, i appolagize.  I am now at work and using a windows machine to browse the internet (which is like puking on a pile of shit btw) anyways my forum wasnt working for one of our machines here, but it was for the others!  and if it did, it was all screwy looking, and bad.  I *have* been using my mac too much lately. - here is a simple fix that worked for my machine:

first look for your ETC directory, in *nix it's usually just /etc in wondows XP its usually something redundant like:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC      there i pasted mine. 

now open your "HOSTS" file in notepad and ammend this line just under 127.0.0.1 localhost (er whatever..)

72.9.145.220 zombie.el.cx

then save and restart your browser.  I appolagize for the inconvenience of my forum LordNod.  thanks guys and i hope to see you there soon. - trev.
