Title: iTunes, you are dead to me.
Post by: M-26-7 on April 04, 2007, 04:46:48 PM
ITunes is really starting to piss me off. It was all good baby, baby, till about v6, then it went all to shit. It's lost all my music 3 times, luckly this last time (1 minute ago or so) I had had my library consolidated so it was relatively easy to fix. But be for I consolidated it and it lost my music I lost some songs, mainly some good Who shit. Seeing as iPod was literally wrenched from my hands a year ago, I have no real need for iTunes. What is a good alternative?
P.S. I had to re-download Episode 14! >:(

Juice (http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/) is supposed to be popular for podcasts.  I tried it once and didn't like it too much.  Maybe try Zune's software?  It's supposed to work just like Itunes.  Maybe Winamp for music?

My Itunes podcasts and playlists has been wiped out twice this year.  It never happened to me in 2006, but twice this year.  It's a real pain in the ass to resubscribe to all the podcasts and rebuild playlists.  Luckily I don't buy any music from the Itunes store or I'd probably just be out of luck with the music I purchased.  I've been meaning to schedule a regular backup of the Itunes database files so if it happens again, I can just restore it.

Aside from this recent issue of everything disappearing for no reason at all, I really like Itunes.

Dear M-26-7,

I really hate hate hate iTunes and vow never to use it.  I had to buy an iPod shuffle for work and after trying to get iTunes set up I decided maybe I didn't need an iPod for myself after all.

At home I use Winamp, at work I use either Yahoo! Jukebox (I <3 Launchcast, and if you have Yahoo! Unlimited, I know yo_mama found some hack to make it so that you can keep the mp3s.)  Also hear that eMusic is okay, but I've never tried it.

Good luck!  Down with iTunes!
Love,
jammie

I used to think Itunes sucked before I got into podcasting last year.  Now it's grown on me.  I use it to organize and play all my music.  Plus I use my Ipod a lot and it's required for that.  But even without the Ipod, I'd probably still use Itunes.  It shows the covers of the CDs I download!  It's like owning the real thing almost!

Winamp does that for me now too.

The newest version of winamp does all the stuff iTunes does. I even use it to put songs on my iPod. iTunes sucks in my opinion. It causes my computer to run erraticly while it's on. Plust winamp whips the llama's ass!

Itunes will work if you can use it properly , you have to guess what it's going to do next.
I use RythmBox for what I do and it work perfectley.  ;D
