Murd0c introduced me to this flash game (http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD/) today. It's called Desktop Tower Defense and it now consumes my life. It's pretty simple - just drag the various weapons onto the playing field to kill the things that walk past. I've been playing for 5 hours now. I want everyone else's life to be as useless as mine. Here's some of my attempted strategies. I've started trying to split up the enemies into separate sides of the screen so that all of the guns are more evenly used and can be more effective. It works, but it's hard to take the time to build it all out that way without a few escaping unharmed in the process.

Two months later and I'm still hooked on this game. I've beaten normal mode, hard mode, and a couple of the challenges. Lately I'm just playing normal mode a lot, trying to get better scores. I got obsessed with this game because of your post. I can't get past level 87 on the 100 level challenge.

I've never gotten past level 72 on that one.

Desktop Tower Defense got updated last week. There's a new enemy and a new kind of tower. Plus the sounds are different. And I can't even beat the 10k Gold fun mode anymore because it's 100 levels now.

Are you upgrading your water towers? I like to put down water towers at both entry points and exit points so that they're almost blocked and upgrade them to their highest level. Then I put more in the middle for the one's that get past and do the same until my 10k is used up. Then you can just keep adding more and more water towers. I don't use any other towers but I don't suppose there's any reason not to.

I've tried lots of things. I've tried using nothing but water towers and upgrading them fully. I've tried using ground bombs at the entrances since those have a damage of 2000. I just end up dying by level 80 or so. I did beat the new Normal and Hard modes though, so I don't suck TOO bad. I've been trying not to play for the past couple of days since that game easily eats up hours of my days.
