812-764-8110. When I call it, it immediately disconnects and I get a dial tone. Weird. At first, I thought I was getting someone else's dial tone so I called ANI. But ANI gives me my own number.
Normally when you disconnect from a number, you have a few seconds of silence and maybe, eventually, a "please hang up" recording. This one goes straight to dial tone. When I call it from my cell, it immediately puts the phone back in standby mode. It doesn't flash that I've disconnected and it doesn't display that I was connected for a second or two like it does with any other number that hangs up on me.
What is it? Fone Finder tells me that it should be with Cingular Wireless. I asked them, though, and they have no records on the number. Any ideas?

A loop for checking certain things out? Like a loop to call a cell tower or something?

I dialed the number, and sadly it seems to be inaccessible in Canada. I tried to dial from a phone that appears to come from Colorado with no luck.

Hey that's near me... New Albany, IN area code. What I get is a fast busy signal. Where'dya find it anyhow?

I'm from 812 also. Indiana is so rural though. That area code actually covers the entire bottom third of the state or so.

I just get the error from my provider: "This number is not accepting incomming calls at this time".

Its extremely possible that this number belongs to them, but it doesnt have a customer assigned to it. Or service was ended abruptly. There are a couple of Verizon Wireless numbers that do that around here. My guess is the switch is faulty, or possibly that it got moved around or something by accident.
