Title: phone filter of some sort
Post by: Robert_ on October 04, 2007, 01:28:06 PM: I know their is a such thing, but cannot think of what it is called. I'm needing some sort of filter or switch to connect to my phone line for when I am on the phone I can push a button or whatever and block out other listeners that might pickup up my phone line in the house. When I get off the phone I can switch it back to normal mode.

Anybody know of anything like this?

No. I just tell whoever picks up the other phone to GTFO. I would imagine that there are probably phones with this feature built in available at business supply stores or something though.

or you could *gasp* just listen to see if someone else picked up another extension...

Post by: judasiscariot on October 05, 2007, 02:40:49 PM: Take a 10.5v battery and wire the positive side to a 3 pole switch using 33 awg wire ONLY! Wire the negative side of the battery to the tip of the phone line using 45 awg double insulated wire. Run the negative pole on the switch to the ring part of the 2nd pair phone line with some left over solder braid for a sporadic connection. This ensures the battery won't run out of juice. When someone picks up the line just start rocking the switch back and forth and viola!
