Title: Calling Cards
Post by: sknOOb on October 20, 2007, 08:00:08 AM
I have a friend that travels alot and his wife wont let him have a cell so he uses pre payed calling cards all the time.
Usually the caller id  shows unknown or blocked or the local area code where he happens to be at the time.

A couple of weeks ago he scored a good deal on some cards so he bought a few,now when he phones the caller id shows one of about three numbers in the 205 regardless of where he is calling from in Canada or the US.

The carrier on the cards he has is Bell.

Can anyone expain why this might be happening?

Your friend calls a number to use the card.   That place might be located in the 205 area code.  Then that place called your friends wife.  So their area code shows up, not your friends.

I used to have on of those cards that I used to call and lurk on the bridge with. I'd put like fourty bucks on it a month and I had access to an 800 number where I could call anywhere in the US, Canada, and Mexico for like nine cents a minute. To keep this thread moving in intelligent conversation mode I have a question. Would using one of these cards be equal to op diverting where you could use it to hide your ANI?
