Title: So what did you worthless bastards do with your FON routers??

i know everyone here was talking about getting one back when they were free, what cool projects came out of yours??  I made mine mobile (homemade USB to DC adapter) Then I downgraded to 0.7.1r1 firmware, then installed FreeWlan firmware.  Now I ssh into it to run Airodump / Aireplay. That + my WUSB54GC and my internal Atheros in meh MacBook makes quite a scan!!

I had about 30 of them stockpiled at my house at one point. I've been setting them up (using the accounts to get more) Turning off the WEP and selling them for $25 a pop.


I made a ton of money off this, but I wish they were still free :(

I cam going to try to configure the new firmware today.

30?!?!?  WHOLEY SHIT!  :o :o :o i sent one to somebady, and i have 2, 1 with DDWRT and 1 with FREEWLAN, the latter has a nice (writable) jffs.  i recommend that one now to everyone.  try this way: http://trac.freewlan.info/wiki/Documentation/Installation

what firware are yours?  mine was like 0.7.2 i think, iunno.

I flashed dd-wrt onto the WRT54G router they sent me.  Set up a cron job perl script to mimic the heartbeat back to the server till they changed business models and then I killed it.
