Title: Help Feed Those In Poverty!
Post by: PHISH-PHREAK on March 06, 2008, 09:06:03 PM
Every time I'm on the computer i try to donate at least a thousand grains of rice by going to freerice.com and playing the vocabulary game they have in order to help those who are less fortunate.

i love that website.  i've learned a lot of really weird, awesome words from there.

i think my favourite is "anacoluthon", which apparently means an abrupt grammatical shift...although i'm also a fan of "panjandrum", a self-important dignitary.

yeah...from all the news articles i've seen, it's real.  they have ads on the page, and the ad revenue is based on page views.  they in turn donate the pay-per-ad-view revenue to the UN food program.

I thought this said "Help Feed Those In Poetry!". That wouldn't have been much different, except if it was poetry I wouldn't even bother.

Well I made it up to 1k something last night and got a highest score of 42! (I have no idea how, since my vocabulary level is awful xD)

But that's some fun and useful way to help learning stuff and help those who need it. They should make other games like that!
