I'm having a problem with a bill collector calling over 30 times a day and I'd like a little sweet revenge. It would be one thing if I was the person he's looking for but I'm not and yet the calls persist even after being told repeatedly "You've got the wrong number!". Once I played along and said oh sure I have the number for you and gave him the number of the local Attorney general but that didn't seem to phase him, it only stopped the calls for about a week. If you're interested or have a nuisance of your own sign on to the project, thanks.

Pay your bills and they'll stop calling! OMFG!
-
If you'd paid any attention it's not me or someone in my household they're after, I do pay my bills. This wasn't a "My friend has this problem" type of thing, it is the truth as I clearly wrote.
-
Just go ahead and pay their bills for them. That's the only way to make them stop calling.

That is one option I hadn't considered. I won't be doing it but at least you're thinking.....

Phone mobbing and revenge are two completely different things. You've got them confused.

Point taken, my mistake. I thought the two went well together, only for me though now that I think about it. I guess it wouldn't be much fun for others unless the guy got really, really pissed.

Are you really Alan Shepard? Cause I always wanted to ask you what its like to golf on the moon... and to get cancer.

As a veteran of Canadian public schools I wouldn't want to vouch for their efficacy either, the only reason I'm not a gibbering retard at this point is self-teaching. I doubt the wisdom of public schools in general.

Good to know, thanks.

HEY... i have numerous messages from various debt collectors and telemarketers asking to be called back. hmmmm. What if I send them to a COUPLE THOUSAND people's voicemails MANY times so the telemarketers and debt collectors get a SHIT LOAD of complaint calls. *argue* I'll let THEM phone mob for me. ;D
How funny would THAT be :D

Well you shouldn't prank them at all. ;D
You see, there is this nifty little thing called the fair debt collection practices act (fdcpa) and if you are getting collection calls for another party that won't stop, that falls under the tcpa. You should be logging each and every one of those calls and then when you rack up enough violations, you send registered mail asking for payment under the fdcpa or tcpa, which will net you somewhere between 500-1000 per violation. If they don't respond and you want to pursue it yourself in small claims, you could win up to 7500, or 5000 depending on your state.
I've made 5000 this way over the years. Judges love to give money away like that in small claims ;D
Do you research first, then set out a plan to trap the fucks. Googling fdcpa or tcpa will get you everything you need. You don't need to be a lawyer or have a lawyer in small claims (you don't need one in state or federal either, but you best know procedure and what you are doing if you want to be heard in those venues).
