Title: I Like Ike
Post by: rbcp on September 12, 2008, 08:03:29 PM
I'm loving watching all this hurricane coverage today.  livenewscameras.com (http://www.livenewscameras.com/map.html) lets you watch 12 different TV stations in the Houston area all at once.  They're saying that 40% of the population in Galveston has stayed behind and that this is supposed to be the worst hurricane they've had since 1900, which is a hurricane that destroyed just about everything. (Yes, I know the news is hyping it, but it still looks like it's going to be pretty bad.)

It's always interesting to search personal blogs in the area of a disaster to see what people are going through.  I'm looking through Myspace blogs right now and so far I've only found this one (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=71780267&blogID=432448422) where some girl is calling her friends idiots for staying behind.  Anyone here a member of LiveJournal so you can search Galveston blogs for more of these?

I'm volunteering at some places that houses the evacuees so i'll ask for their myspace url's/livejournals and post the ones with info about the hurricane here.

My mom called me today and told me to hurry up and fill my car with gas. She said it's already $5.50/gallon and when the hurricans hit it will go up to $8. I explaned to her that this kind of irrational fear is what caused the Great Depression and that there is no way in hell I'm paying $5 for a gallon of gas. I really, really hope I made the right decision.

Yeah, gas has went up about $0.45 overnight. I'm sick of hurricanes raising gas prices.

They were telling people who didn't evacuate to write their SS#'s on their arm!

What a disappointment.  I sure fell for the hype.  I was just enjoying all the live shots of my old hood in Galveston.  Apparently all that happened is a lot of power went out.

I waited with baited breath in hopes this thing was going to rip Texas a new one. Not because I don't like living here; no, far from it, but rather because I NEED a hurricane to rip through a shopping mall, or Best Buy, or something. I want to be a free loading looter of the highest class.

I want a new laptop.

I like the complete absence of reasons to like Ike, encouraging blind conformity to like what the crowd does is refreshingly honest in comparison to modern political commercials (which are usually just full of bullshit).
