Title: *67 Dosen't Work With 1-800 Numbers
Post by: Mr.Cactus on February 07, 2009, 06:07:18 PM
Yeah I learned that today. Called the suicide talk line w/ the Mr.Rogers soundboard. After irritating the lady for about an a minute, she reads off my number. I kept up my act and continued talking to her though. Kinda funny, yet humiliating though. She told me she was going to call the police, yeah OK. Still not as good as the time stanley steamer called me back and told me they were going to call the police, seriously...Whats up with these people?!  ;D

Automatic_number_identification (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_number_identification) != Caller ID (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_id)

One should read those before they start prank calling.

Yeah, I kinda felt bad about calling it. I was tired of being hung up on by petco though, I like bewbies.

Even if they actually do call the cops, the COPS are probably too busy and probably won't do anything unless you make threats. Prank people who deserve it like email scammers

Probably, but don't forget about this article (http://www.phonelosers.com/kids-dont-prank-crisis-hotlines/) where the cops came and arrested a guy pranking an anger management hotline.  You wouldn't think that would even be considered a crisis line, but they came and took him away anyway.  And a suicide hotline would surly be taken more seriously than anger management.

Don't do suicide hotline pranks, my friend got a visit by the cops because he found out a way to call them with Skype. It's weird though how they caught him, as the Chinese are the only people who can decrypt the Skype info to get an I.P. address.

I've had toll-free numbers have my Skype username and phone number show up on their display before.

Even if you figure out a fool-proof way to call suicide hotlines and never get caught, still don't do it.  There are a million other things out there to prank that aren't crisis hotlines.

...that won't spark pursuance motivation fueled by righteous indignation over a humanitarian resource being abused.

Moral implications aside, it isn't very smart.

I say Robot House, your watercraft is as ill designed as you yourselves.

If it weren't for the three laws, I'd take great pleasure in disassembling you, human.

I've suspected for a long time that you were not human. I think it was because of the compliments.

You are so intuitive and observant. I will never cease to be impressed with your intelligence.
