That the one I want right? To do all the fancy wifi crap. I mean I suppose there's a better solution with an external antenna and what not but that's probably be more then 20 bucks right? Also I'm sure there are mods that one who solder with reasonable skill can do right?

Yeah get an Orinoco or an Atheros not a Prism or a Hermes

Cool, can you maybe tell us how it works out and what card you used? Sounds like a good deal.

Ah crap. See this is what I was asking...wait let me google..
hmm according to =tron= on some other board
As far as I remember the Orinoco Gold cards can be used to inject with patched drivers on a 2.4 kernel, but not the Silver ones.
I think the patch he's talking about is here. http://trac.aircrack-ng.org/ticket/149 (http://trac.aircrack-ng.org/ticket/149)

yeah ralink is up there with atheros in my opinion. and a lot of other ppls opinions too. in fact, i added rt73 patched to WNLA if you wanna run that disk :P
-
He added it for me!!!
It's awesome to see Ralink release the RT73 chipset on their own card, as I really don't like the DLink card that uses that chipset, or the Buffalo card that uses the RT2750 card. How is the card's signal/antenna strength, though? My DLink has horrible range, and anything with less than 60% signal strength usually means a spotty connection.
-
i added it to WNLA Lite a few days ago too, i even patched the driver for packet injection as well.

That the one I want right.......
Just curious if you got it to work. I seem remember reading somewhere that Atheros chipsets were preferred over the Hermes chipsets for all that fancy wifi crap in Linux.
Yeah get an Orinoco or an Atheros not a Prism or a Hermes
Aren't the Orinoco cards based on the Hermes chipset?
