Title: Sewer Punk
Post by: trevelyn on May 25, 2009, 12:03:36 PM
Dear PLA.

Yeah, everyone already laughed at me before, but I am still fascinated by huge underground Telecommunication tunnels and rooms.  I think that's where I'd hide if something bad ever happened to this country.  I saw on "life after people" on H channel, that NYC's would flood pretty quickly andf that sucks.  You guys probably have the largest.

Anyways, My new CD is coming out in September and will be called "Sewer Punk"

The CD and Design are pretty much done, I just need to master and test it on several things/people, before final release.  The insert is siick looking, and has diagrams of tunnels, phone boxes, and a few images.  The music has a pretty dark theme, save for a few tunes.. (Sleep Love being one of them).

Anyways, Since you are family to me, I would like your input and am giving you 4 randomly selected titles to listen to.  These will most likely sound different as the final mixing happens, but.

Drum and Bass (i guess i can't say my disk is tramce or dnb now, "Electronic"?) heh.

http://weaknetlabs.com/music/temp/Grey_Sky_and_No_Sound.mp3

This title starts off the CD.

http://weaknetlabs.com/music/temp/Rogue_Scavenger_Hacker_Survivor_(gate_mix).mp3

This one, I like the gate.

http://weaknetlabs.com/music/temp/Cycling_In_The_City_Rain.mp3

This one is a bit brighter.

http://weaknetlabs.com/music/temp/Sleep_Love.mp3

This one is the brightest of the disk.

So let me know what I should do! and thanks!  Sorry I have been MIA, I have WNLA arriving June 5th with the HackerForCharity project thing, and been writing papers, and doing Network pen testing in the lab, along with a real life job and house - with fucking grass that will not stop growing in my yard.

:)

you kick ass.  <3

i really love that beginning track...i couldn't decide if it made me want to dance, or think deeply.  maybe both...and that's the awesome part.

I really like all of them, nice job. The only thing that bothered me was in the first one, Obama's speech just "cuts off", it would sound better if you smoothed it down with a transition.

YES! i thought the same!  actually i am thinking of using clips of war and then '28 Weeks Later' to muffle out his speech.  and thanks for your comments! :)

What software/hardware did you use to make these tracks? They're pretty great.

I am using a midi controller with fl studio xxl to make the structure, then i do the final mixing with soundforge.  i guess i will master it with soundforge too, or maybe something else.. you got any suggestions?

EDIT:
--------
Well, i got some feedback from some music grads here at work, and i guess tomorrow evening i am going out to buy this bad ass thing called a kaoss kp3 and Reason, so who knows, maybe the songs will sound extremely different?

Holy shit. I absolutely love the Sleep Love song. It's very relaxing and the beats just seem to flow so damn smooth. It's on loop, now. More or less back to back with the Streets of Rage opening theme song. That song relaxes me too. For some reason unbeknownst to me.

I really enjoyed "Cycling". Reading your last post, I'm interested to hear the influence that the new tech will have on what you already have. Keep us posted!

oh yeah, this cd is coming along great btw.  The new hardware made a huge difference!  none of those tracks up there are really on the new layout (there's about 16 tracks in it now total), and i have been mixing it, spending hours on each track.

I am sure i can have it out before September if anyones still interested.

piece!

Good Evening Sir,

Being such an anal retentive guy that I am I am in the process of reripping my cd's to flac even though I cannot tell the difference between the flac file and my current 320kbs mp3 files with my M-Audio soundcard/monitor speakers setup. Also being such a fan of your work, would it be possible to get this album and your previous albums in flac too? I would be willing to provide hosting on my site/seed torrents/etc if the file sizes would be an issue.

k thx bai,
Space Bison

It doesn't really work that way, converting from mp3 to flac. I'm guessing you don't have the original source files? Not a big issue though, just curious thought I'd ask. Thanks again.
