Title: Good place to start?
Post by: PoopskinTheLiar on June 06, 2009, 02:24:42 PM
So, i want to do some pranking soon but i have no idea where i should start (well, aside from plugging in random numbers and seeing who picks up), but the only phones i have readily available are my house phone and my cell phone (which are both horrible for this thing, seeing as the calls can be traced to me). What would be a good starting point for pranking and light phreaking?'

EDIT: Note that i have done plenty of reading off of Artofhacking, but that's all horribly out of date.

That's a good place to end... not start.

Payphone or Skype.

Doesn't skype cost money for outbound calls?

Wait...Unless the people i prank have professional tracing stuff, shouldn't *67 be okay for if i ABSOLUTELY have to use my home phone?

(also, i have not seen many payphones in my area. i'll have to do a stakeout.)

It costs a whole $2.95 a month for unlimited calls. That's 59 bottles off the side of the road, or 30 if you live in michigan. Or 27 minutes working at federal minimum wage.

:o :o :o
That's a lot of monies.

I harass these two wal-marts, you could give them a try. The employees that I've talked to are what you'd expect.
(813) 681-8136
(813) 672-0739
(it took me an hour to find these numbers when I did. 99% of wal-mart numbers on the internet don't work. >:()
One of them is a 24-hour, and the other is a regular wal-mart that goes to the electronics department.

Just start out by making a Skype account and calling toll free numbers and 800goog411, you can do 15 minutes max, but it's a lot better than getting caught.

What do they see on their caller ID when they get a call from Google 411?

Goog411 passes ani. Skype has a pretty cool feature that's fairly inexpensive called skype to go. Once you have it set up you call in and either select one of your five speed dial numbers or dial out any other number you want. The CID will show a number in the 206 area code. Pay for skype, it's worth it even if they are blocking out certain conferences.

Download toneloc and scan your exchange. You can have it play a pre-recorded message when a person answers. Do this in the middle of the goddamn night for "epoc lulz".

Don't take advice from cMc. That's the best advice you'll ever get.
