but i just couldn't get it to work we tried it with companies and called back say that we were from corporate and asked if they typed the *72(201) 325-9280 and they said that they did but obviously it didn't work because when we called them it didn't get forwarded.
so what did we get wrong to company phones not have that function??

probably because you called a business that has multiple lines with call hunting - duh - and when you told them to activate call forwarding, they did, but not for the main line, but one of the other lines in there hunt group... good job.....

1.) Is 201-325-9280 a local call from the business you tried to get to forward their calls? If not, they have to dial *72-1-201-325-9280
2.) Why are you forwarding calls to Wal-Mart in Secaucus? What fun is that?

that was just an example and ya i'll try dialling the 1 before the area code

ok so i went out and did it last night at some pay-phone told um to dial 72#1-415-472-2600 and he was more than willing to do it and also try *72-1-etc... but were pretty sure that this did not work..
when they use call forwarding will we get a call from them that activates it? or will it just do it...
and pay phones are no fun so can you still red box today.

If you are forwarding their line to your phone your phone should ring. With most landline systems when they dial the string they have to wait for the number to answer. It can't be busy and it can't just ring. Once the line is answered that activates the forwarding.

There are numbers that you can call that bridges all callers together. They pick up immediately when called.....
