This story reminded me of the trick of of buying dial-up modems and replace the circuitry of crushed soda cans

shit.. if anyone has recently purchased one of those crappy overpriced tablets, now is your chance to get another one, or your money back.. bring in a slab of clay to the store and tell them that this is what you bought..

I read about this stuff happening all the time on Consumerist.  Another popular replacement item is ceramic floor tiles, since they're heavy and can be cut into any size.  Last year a friend of mine bought an external hard drive and inside it was a block of drywall.  Whenever I purchase expensive things now, I usually check the box before I leave the store to make sure it's actually in there.
