Title: What should I buy?
Post by: N01zii on January 11, 2013, 05:40:56 PM
I have $25 in a prepaid Visa, and I want to get something worthwhile that I can use or learn from or something.

Just bought "Find It Online", "Hacking VoIP Exposed", and "Cellphone Projects for the Evil Genius" for like four dollars each, it was an awesome deal on Amazon.

I'm looking for something worthwhile that I can use, something that I've never explored before I guess haha. Maybe telephone books, something on radio or something, or maybe even some cheap radio. The drivethrough pranks seemed funny, it would be cool to do that if it's still possible.

So anyway, I'm open to literally any recommendations up to like a hundred bucks, because I can get more money if needed. I love exploring new frontiers, so I'm up for anything from telephony, to radio, to neural networks, to cars, to literally anything haha.

Anyway, thanks!

I have just started playing around with one of those VoIP ATA's.
Here's what I got: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833553031

Wow, that seems really cool! I'll have to research them a bit more, but what all can you do with them?

Right now, I am just using a free SIP provider along with IPKall, which gives you a free phone number.
So basically I have a free incoming phone line.
If you use Skype Connect/Skype Manager, you can purchase and allocate SIP channels and phone numbers to your VoIP devices.

I like the Grandstream Networks adapters, well, basically because their product line is pretty simple, and I consider them a local company. http://www.grandstream.com/ (http://www.grandstream.com/)

Wow, that's actually pretty cool. I might check that out.

Anyone else have suggestions? I'm still more than open to new suggestions.

Another VOIP ATA device worth checking out is the Obihai OBI100 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833617001).  I know several people that are happy with it, happy enough to use it along with Google Voice for their home phone service.

Check out this thread...

I used my ATA to evade house arrest. I was supposed to be home at certain times to answer the phone and I had to show my bill as proof that my home phoneline was vanilla so I hooked it up to hotdial my cellphone thru the internet so I could answer wherever I was and say "Yep, I'm home!"
