Title: Is this a telco box or something else?

Ive had this half open box right next to my backyard for about a year now and Ive finally gotten to opening it but the only thing is that I have no Idea what it is. It seems to me that it distributes cable to the six or seven houses on my street but I have no idea.

Maybe taking a picture of the logo on the top of the "box" in the first picture would be helpful

Both Scientific Atlanta and Regal make TV/Cable-type stuff, so a cable box is a good bet.

It says Scientific Altanta on the thing inside the box.  I have seen that logo on my cable box before.

I took a picture of the logo on the top and all it says is telecommunications around a warning thing.

But meh I guess all it is, is cable and thats really disappointing.

Back in the 80's, our cable boxes had the Scientific Atlantic name/logo on them.

Yay! I finally figured out what it is. It's a cable signal amplifier. I was watching T.V and I saw a commercial about them people stealing them and to be on the watch for thieves.

that is a "LE" =line extender (a low value amp) and looks like it is spliced into a "DC" =dirctional couplar (a controlable line spliter) put more than one of those in

If my front yard and across the street, I have no less than 3 boxes. One is underground and says "Electricity high voltage do not open" So I  think I'm going to leave that alone. There is also a bubble like box that says "cable" and across the street in the yard of a house that no one is currently living in (its been on the market for months) is a bigger electricity box with a bigger danger sign, a TELEPHONE box, and a second cable box. maybe it's time I see whats inside all these? (except the electricity) if I can get them open I'll post pictures...

I believe they're only needed for some sort of HFC or digital cable system?
