Title: Cell Phone data transfer
Post by: Jersey on January 03, 2007, 02:27:38 PM
Hi, I was wondering if anybody has used those Data transfer kits to send files between their cell phone and PC. I was looking into one for my Motorola V551 for image/sound transferring... but and kinda skeptical if it actually works as it says.
So if anybody has any experience with them or knowledge about them, some input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have.

Most kits come with everything you need.  I did a search for your cell phone model and found this:  http://www.cellphonemall.net/wireless/store/accessorydetail.asp?id=17948

When you ask for input in relation to experience - can you be more specific?  The reason I ask is because you phrase the question to formulate a response very generic like, "It's works great."

Cool. I found one on the Motorola site and looked it up on ebay and see some for like 20$.. and its actually Motorola made so hopefully they're legit. heres one of them]http://cgi.ebay.com/MOTOROLA-USB-DATA-CABLE-KIT-4-0-FOR-E815-V551-T720-OEM_W0QQitemZ230071945084QQihZ013QQcategoryZ35209QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem]heres one of them (http://cgi.ebay.com/MOTOROLA-USB-DATA-CABLE-KIT-4-0-FOR-E815-V551-T720-OEM_W0QQitemZ230071945084QQihZ013QQcategoryZ35209QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Probably gonna order one sometime this week.

As for the input part... mainly was curious if they actually worked for what they said they do (such as sound and  image files). I didn't want to order one only to find out when it arrived that it just does like contacts transferring.

Thanks

I've got a cable that had worked for the last 2 LG phones I had.  And it worked on Jammie's LG phone and a couple other LG phones that I had lying around.  It lets me transfer everything on the phone except for games and applications.  When I switched to a new LG phone, I was able to transfer all my contacts, text messages and call history to my new phone.  Plus the cable lets me upload my own ringtones to the phone.  My ringtone is a red box.

My ringtone is a red box.

Haha... should have guessed that.

Just ordered the one from the eBay link I put in my last post. It should pay for itself within just a few sound transfers.

All you really need to pay for is the data cable, everything else you can usually get free (drivers and a file transfer program, like BitPim).
