Sounds interesting. We should troll a gay bar's Twitter, complete with attacks on homosexuals. That could probably yield some interesting results. No offense to anybody in PLA that is gay of course; I troll mostly anybody as long as it's anonymous.
-
Doing small bars like this would definitely be easier, but I think it'd be more fun to stick to something corporate since they'd have some kind of official contest in place that they wouldn't be able to back out of. Here is a search string (https://twitter.com/#!/search/contest%20hashtag) that might find hashtag contests.
Really, though, I'm up for messing with anything. Keep posting suggestoins in here!

Mitt Romney, that should be corporate enough ;D

Nothing like trolling the President of the United States:

Just avoid things like threats, we wouldn't want Brad getting into trouble with the Secret Service.
Too bad that flag@whitehouse.gov doesn't work anymore, we could have bombed it with links to Phonelosers! When it was working, I sent in a link to the Rickrolling video on YouTube.

Hey, what about those hash tags for Dog the Bounty Hunter and Storage Wars? You know, the one's that they display the tweets for live on TV on that tickertape.
-
I remember a news anchor who had or still has a show on CNN everyday around 2-3pm EST. You can comment on whatever the news topic was about through Twitter and Facebook. I don't remember the hashtag. If his show is still on the air, there's potential for fun.

Looks like McDonald's has been having some hashtag issues recently. Wish we'd known about this one.

Tr0ll #DOGTHEBOUNTYHUNTER on a Wednesday night.
-
I just tweeted this:
Watching #DOGTHEBOUNTYHUNTER with Chris Tomkinson and the rest of the Phonelosers down at the Cactus Bar.
-
I'd join in, but I don't known a single thing about that show.
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_the_Bounty_Hunter
It's a show about a guy who runs a bail bonds business and goes after people who don't show up for their show up for their court appearances. It's on A&E every Wednesday night.
There's another show called "Storage Wars" that has a similar thing going with Twitter, it's about these guys that go to the public auctions at the storage places. Storage places put people's stuff up for auction when they don't pay their bills, and these people go around buying that stuff hoping to find something valuable they can make a profit on.

Someone just posted this on Facebook:
http://www.subway.com/subwayroot/FreshBuzz/HeartTruth/default.aspx (http://www.subway.com/subwayroot/FreshBuzz/HeartTruth/default.aspx)
Subway wants us to post PICTURES of our Subway sandwiches with the hashtag #subwayhearttruth (https://twitter.com/#!/search/%23subwayhearttruth). It's a promo for Diet Coke and Subway. For every picture we post, they donate $1 to "heart health programs." I bet we could come up with some horrifying sandwich photos.
The only problem is that there are a lot of these posts today, so there's a lot to compete with. And we'd have to write something hilarious with the photo, because nobody is going to click on photos about Subway otherwise. Maybe it's a horrible idea for these reasons.
Also, I'm all for messing with some of those smaller places listed in this thread. Not in a mean way, but just in a funny way. We could pick a place and not only tweet about them a lot, but leave crazy Yelp and Google reviews for them too.
-
Damn that someone. Anyways I think I might join in on this one. What I don't get about companies using twitter as a publicity tool is they don't have any censorship ability. Now I'll ask you to be creative in the sandwich "meats" you decide to come up with.

Two words: Ripoff Report. In case nobody here's heard of it: http://www.ripoffreport.com

I was at Subway this weekend and noticed they had cards on all the tables, for that heart promotion. The fine print on the cards says they will only donate up to $50,000 for the $1.00 tweets. Subway.com says there are 24,888 Subways in the U.S., so if they printed up a stack of cards for every single location, plus shipping, they probably spent $50,000 just for printing the cards.
-
Ya ripoffreport is great for causing trouble.

Stuff like this is why charity donations from corporations and hugely rich assholes doesn't mean jack.. its just a small chunk of change for good PR, marketing basically

Somebody added The Phone Show's number to 800notes.com once. Additionally, I added my nemesis's home phone number to that site.

Anybody remember that site RationalWiki that I suggested that we forum mob?

Some people seem to be pretty pissed at Rush Limbaugh; they made a whole hashtag to try and get companies to stop sponsoring him: #stoprush. They're saying that any company that sponsors him sponsors hate.
Politics aside, since these people are complaining of hate, can you imagine the irony if that hashtag was trolled to make it into more like a Stop Russians thing, spreading "hateful" trolling about Russians using the #stoprush hashtag? No offense to any Russians out there in PLA world of course, just picked them because it sounds like "rush."
-
The value of converting #stoprush and tags like it into something completely different is that there's idiots that will continue to use it even if it's being used more for something stupid, like hate towards Russians, and they'll make a complete ass of themselves.
-
or it could be used to stop the band rush from Canada - could add some kind of anti-Canada message to it or something..

I actually like that idea better. Of course, we need some significant forum mobbing in order for this to work.
