why couldnt you sniff credit card numbers?? if you dont have Wii points you can use a credit card. The Wii is 802.11 NOT ethernet... What if you just did a MITM attack with dnsspoof and arpoisoning? I know its not a virus but it sure beats coding one thats for sure. dns spoofing wouldnt be ard because it uses "real" internet (not the mobile phone mini internet) but this means your sitting outside in your car in front of the victims house. unless you find their router is labeled OPN, and they havent changed the the password for admin access on it (%80 of the time in my area) then you could do remote sniffing and just configure their router to allow remote administration.
Also, the packets coming from the Wii.. even encrypted packets - if you run etherreal and use unified sniffing from your wlan card in the packet you can actually see what game someone is playing with the DS lite (i am such a nerd) I set up this experiment back in the old days when we had the non-backlight big ass grey version of the DS. and watched the packets go by saying "animal crossing.." i even sniffed the server the ds forwarded through the local gateway connected to! and the remote is blue tooth. what if you could screw with the remote with a bluetooth dongle and hcitools?
that would be funny! As for the viruses, i recently bought a MacBook and OS X is pretty stable for the most part.. i find it almost discouraging though that i have been using linux (dual boot with ReFit) more than OSX. Linux on the macbook is awesome, and totally functional (cept i havent configured the webcam yet)
thanks for talking about the Wii it's an awesome piece of hardware, just needs more games.
oh when you use a credit card with the Wii It cannot be saved in the Wii (protect the parents asses from children wanting VC games i guess!!) but you have to put tons of personal information into the wii - i wouldnt be surprised if it were using SSL (maybe the cause of it being so slow) i havent seen and certificates issued though when purchasing games - i bought a lot of them - though certificates arent hard to forge if it did use SSL you could still sniff the encrypted info you would just have to get them to accept your phony certifiacte to se during the decryption part exempli gratia SSLDUMP. deleting temp internet files quickly is a good thing. My Wii is packed up cos i bought a house, when i move in i will test all i can with the wireless ideas.
