Mosquito Problems
« on: August 04, 2007, 08:56:52 PM »
The Mosquitoes have been driving me crazy in New Jersey. Not only that but that since they burst, I have like three Band-Aids already from the ones that pop.

Jammie, what has been the best way you found to avoid those suckers!  :'(

YOURE GONNA GET THE WEST NILE!!!
We have mosquitoes pretty bad down here as well.  You can try a combination of techniques.
Make sure that there isnt any standing water on yoru property, thats where the little bastards breed.
Mosquitoes are attracted to heat, so if you spend time in your back yard, light a candle to distract them.
There are also some plants that repel them, geraniums or marigolds I think.
If you are getting bit while on the go, just remember to spray yourself with repelant.
I have found that using just one of these technique isnt 100% effective, so I use several.
I dont get bit as often as I use to.
Fire ants are the pests I have to deal with most.
If you have any good way to get rid of those, I will gladly try anything.
I get bit more by fire ants than anything.

Any kind of water or ice elemental attack will do, or equip conjoined fire and elemental status materia in your armor to nullify or absorb fire damage ^___^.

Dear Sidepocket,

I currently have like 20 bites on my legs, so I am probably the wrong person to ask.  Recently we purchased some OFF spray, Citronella candler and those Citronella tiki torches.

One weird thing though... so I went to New Jersey to visit my aunt in Old Bridge.  My family there is Colombian so they have weird home remedies for everything.  Anyhow, they were all passing along this pink bottle and putting this goo from the bottle all over their arms because it keeps the mosquitos away.  They made me put some on and it worked pretty well.  I went back to check what it was and it was... bath oil.  Like this pretty smelling bath oil stuff.  Not even a name brand I really recognized.  It was wacky.

Then another weird thing... so this old guy at the BBQ didn't put the stuff on and got a bug bite on his hand.  He did the weirdest shit... he spit on it and then put some salt on it and rubbed it in.  He kept spitting and rubbing the salt and spit into the bite.  He said it took the poison out.

So, uh, I don't know if this will help you at all, but it's worth a shot!

Love,
jammie
