I got some good use out of one of them very recently. A friend was setting up a new little pbx at work and asked me how to stop one of his colleagues from calling his girlfriend in australia, without letting the colleague know that the calls were being blocked. I gave him the australia number and he added it to whatever digit conversion table that thing had, so that whenever he called the australia country code he'd get that 800 number instead. It worked pretty well, the guy couldn't rack up the phone bill anymore but he could still call his girlfriend on his own dime.
