TIP:this doesnt work unless u can get the cashier to hand over the money before you give them your change.

When I was a cashier, I had people trying all kinds of money things on me.  I don't know if I ever fell for anything but I know I caught several people at it.  I remember saying to one guy, "Stop doing what you're trying to do."  I really don't understand how that lady fell for it, though.  It seemed kind of obvious.

I also had parents send their kids to throw a bunch of pennies and nickels on the counter and argue with each other while their parents shoplifted.

I had people try to do that to me too. It worked on me one time but I noticed it lots of other times. This always struck me as a sleazy bottom-feeder scam.

The other type of change scam is say, if you were at a store and you used your debit card and requested $20 back, you would first say, could I have a $20 bill back, then change your mind to 2 10s, then 3 5s, 5 1s and a 10. You wait to change your mind after the cashier has retrieved the bills from the register so they have to think about putting the bills back from the correct slot and less and less on the math.
