Making a UPS package disappear
« on: September 07, 2007, 06:10:53 AM »
A friend of mine wants to know a good way to send a UPS package, but have it somehow disappear before it reaches its destination.  So far our most plausible plan is to use disappearing ink.  Injecting some into a printer cartridge, printing the label with it and then dropping it off at the UPS store.  Though I have no idea how well disappearing ink works and haven't researched it on Google yet so maybe our most plausible plan is retarded.

Maybe a glue that quits working after a day so the label falls off?  Maybe it could fall off to reveal another label underneath so they wouldn't think it came from that same box.  Maybe a label affixed so poorly that it would have to fall off at some point.  The label underneath could be addressed to him so that he'd know it worked when he received the package.  Any other ideas that don't involve putting a time bomb in the package?

I would apply lots of scotch tape to the top of the box. Then I would peel the backing off the label and stick it to the scotch tape. Then I would peel it off and restick it over and over until it was barely hanging on.

They won't lose it though. When you call them to claim the insurance they'll ask for the dimensions of the box and what the contents were. Then they'll open any packages that don't have labels and match them up. If that happens say there was something else in the box

If you want your box lost more easily go with DHL. They really don't give a shit.

DHL: When you're too cheap to use fedex and too lazy to use USPS or UPS, DHL!

What's the point of doing this? For the insurance?

Interesting that DHL is recommended.  From my experience, UPS has the dumbest motherfuckers on earth.  To the point that they will refuse to ship a block of salt if it's labeled as sodium chloride.  Scientific names scares them off but I digress.

What if it was shipped to a wrong/non-existing address instead?  It's so easy to have typos  ;)

Whats the point of this if you want free stuff then follow a UPS truck around and whenever they drop off a package infront of a house when no ones there just take the package.Theres probably tons of cool  stuff in the boxes cause it coming around to christmas.

I play a bass guitar, fiddle, and soon the tin whistle. I love folk metal and black metal. I also scream with the agony of Loki after he's punished for the slaying of Baldr. If you play guitar, we can make that album.

Check out this link. They sell 3 pens with different types of ink that disappear after 2 hours, 48 hours, and 1 week respectively.
Huh?

That would be a cool prank, it would be even cooler on a mass scale. DHL has amazing customer service from my experience, USPS has no customer service what so ever, and UPS is somewhere in the middle.

It would make for some awesome phone calls at least...
