Loss is equally important on TX and RX. Those who work weak signal stuff on VHF/UHF i.e. some satellites, especially EME, SSB DX know minimizing loss is of the utmost importance. Some even install hardline for better loss figures than 9913/LMR-400 or LMR-600. Mast mount preamps help a lot, too. A lot of this is moot though if you stick to VHF or below. The differences at lower frequencies is so minute it's as if there was no difference at all. The higher the frequency, the greater the loss and the greater disparity you're going to see between types of cable. You get up to 2.4GHz and the difference could be as much as losing half the signal.
