420 is a slang term for pot it was started by some kids at some high school in wisconsin and everyday at 4:20 they would go and smoke grass on a farm. The club grew and became a slang term.

In Manitoba, 4/20 is the date that everyone goes and smokes dope on government property. Maybe it's all of Canada, I'm not sure.

It's commonly excepted plus the original phrase is "4:20 Louis", reefering to the statue.
It's code because the first pasteurization experiment was completed on 4/20.

if you would do a little research...maybe even ask a cop or delve into the vast internets you would know the waldos started it. my roomie is a cop and i asked her about and she knew it was the waldos. i thought this stuff was common knowledge.
