So on a whim last night, I went and picked up 4 The Bad Plus albums, and I can't stop listening to them. It's a small jazz combo (drums, piano, bass) with some strong ties to rock and classical music. They got their initial reputation through jazz covers of popular songs (such as Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"), but their original pieces are nothing short of amazing.
