According to Snopes it's a true story.

This gives me a great idea!  And by great, I mean awful.  We'll watch the paper for the untimely demise of a person, get his old phone number(s) and then use caller ID spoofing to call his loved ones from his old number!  We could just do static, or a zombie voice or maybe even try to imitate his voice.  Hilarity will ensue for all!

At least do the morally right thing and ring up a convicted murderer who knows the number of the guy he killed.

The day of the funeral, ring him, ghostly voice "Youuuu thought you killlllled meeeee" from his cell.

Also, ring police so he doesn't go on a rampage? Who knows, I'd flip out if that happened to me.... Then again, I'd have already lost a screw if I had ended up killing one of my friends.
