scanner still worth it?

are scanners still wroth it, other than the expensive digital scanners, since the phones now have the encoding and alot of law enforcement agencies are switching to digital? i read some of the older posts about the scanners but im still debating... :-X

Yeah if you wanna listen to the police and fire department but to listen to phones no.

kk thanks for the quick response  ;D i guess ill keep to just listening to it at work then My own mediocre attempt at humor has been highly amusing to myself. maybe set it up with a pc interface and put it online to listen at home haha so it dont have to actual pay for it and waste the money
