bunch of payphone photos and numbers
« on: January 04, 2011, 09:50:32 PM »
i have been taking photos of payphones that i see in the NYC subway system for some strange reason lately... most of the numbers i obtained from dialing an ANAC - but some of the numbers, especially the ones with NDT i just got from the sticker on the phone...

i put everything together here http://trainphones.blogspot.com/ if anyone is interested...

This is a neat project!  There are less of these things out there every day, they need memorializing like this.

I've been using the blank pages in the back on my copy of the PLA book to map the existing pay phones in my neighborhood/city.  So far, none of them have posted numbers but by pyring off that face plate where the phone number would be, I've found the old numbers that used to be associated with the phone, if those are of any use.

most payphones (at least telephone company pay phones) will allow you to dial an ANAC number to verify the number with out adding coins - such as 958 (but might be different in different locations) and many even allow calls to toll free numbers with out adding any coins so 1-800-444-4444 will get you the number of those phones....
