Pay phone web cam prank

Last night gnnr was participating in some weird 4chan prank where everyone was watching a Times Square webcam and trying to make phone calls to get a display rack moved.

Of course, what I'm interested in is the 2 pay phones that are right in the middle of the frame.  We need those pay phone numbers so we can watch live video of people getting pranked at pay phones.  I have no idea what we could say or do to people, but we should get the phone numbers and then worry about that later.

I guess what we need to do is either call up that store and ask them to go out and get the pay phone numbers for us, or maybe if one of you PLA people are in that area, you could go write them down.  And then spraypaint PLA on the sidewalk while you're at it.

However, I have heard that the phones only ring once or twice before going to the modem.

yea those are verizon payphones... and i have yet to come across a verizon payphone that rings... they usually go straight to modem, or ring once (only on the caller side as the ringers are either removed or disabled inside the phones) then go to modem)

on one payphone that i did call (in the subway station in time square) i was actually able to hear some of the back ground noise (people talking) before the modem started sending its tones...

I went to those phones in 2008. They do not ring but they do accept incoming calls. Unfortunately, I don't have the numbers anymore.

That's too bad about the NYC pay phones going to modem so quickly.  I tried them both and they both go to modem, either immediately or after a couple of rings.  Maybe we could still do something with them though.  I'll definitely give those UK numbers a try too.

Hey guys, big fan, been following since way back, probably 10 years ago or so. Just decided to sign up to let you know that unfortunately those UK pay phones are no longer there, that entire portion of the park is torn apart for what appears to be remodeling.
