Computer inside Brain?
« on: November 20, 2006, 03:56:47 PM »
O.k. so the other day in science class we were talking about something random I don't really remeber what, and my teacher started telling us that there is a way to hook up a computer to your brain or something.  She said that the connect it, and you can type, open windows, move the mouse, ext. all with your brain and thoughts or whatever.  I was wondering if anyone knew anything about how this works.  She also said that there was some scientist in Europe who totally wired his brain or something with all this hardcore technology.  If anyone has some info or links I would apreciate it cause it's so god danm awsome!

Try this wired article

http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/13.03/brain.html

Or this BBC one

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4396387.stm

I dont think she said you have a "COMPUTAR" in you brain, rather something that looks like a coaxial cable with electrodes on it, running out of your skull, that leads to a large array of components that interpret the brain signals. I know you could move the cursor, and I bet it would be hard to learn to do as well. rather that interpreting weird brain waves, you can buy a program that will just type whatever you say (assuming the person is able to talk) without much error. Thats no miracle. I don't think there is a option for this kind of hardware under the "accessibility" section of the control panel either...

A cousin of mine had a car accident (a huge one) and now he carries with a blood valve in his skull, is kinda of a computer since it's in charge or regulate the blood flow on his crappy brain.
