A few months ago, after diligently searching the Internets in vain, and then spending a few bucks on online detective agencies, I managed to track down Dino Allsman's current address in East Alton, IL. I went there last weekend and staked out the place in my car for most of Sunday afternoon.
Finally, all those hours paid off! I saw the man, Dino himself, in the flesh! I got out of the car, crept around the vacant lot beside his junk-strewn backyard, and readied my camera. He was only in my field of view for a few minutes before I accidentally alerted him to my presence. He immediately started yelling threats and chased me off his property. I beat a quick retreat to my car and head back to the safety of Chicago.
Checking my camera gallery afterward, I was disappointed to find there was only one pic of Dino that was not out of focus or completely blurred beyond recognition (I suck at candid photography). However, I do feel that this single image really captures the essence of the "man behind the myth" of Dino Allsman.
