thats the one yauch!
make sure to double check the resistor used to drop the voltage from 9v (if shared power from the opener) or better yet use a 5 volt voltage regulator so you dont burn up the scanner chips. unfortunatly in the case of the one i made it eventually burned up because it was running on like 7 volts instead of 5 an it eventually burned up.
use chip sockets too, they are cheap and allow easy switching of chips if they do burn out.
