Insanely old phone system

I was in northern Manitoba over the weekend and had the chance to mess around with the payphones.

 I discovered that not only do they still pulse dial (you can hear them clicking away) the operators apparently listen for coin tones by ear (as opposed to my local, more modern exchange where most of the time the operator is muted after telling me to put the coins in).

I was inebriated at the time, and since I haven't carried a redbox for a long time, I tried my hand at synthesizing tones vocally. She wasn't amused, and I wish I had a recorder at least to record the conversation.

There is a payphone in Linsdborg (which I visit occasionally) that has the same thing. Its right outside a teashop and its really hard to not look conspicous with really old people watching you. One time a lady came out and asked me what I was doing, I told her I was trying to make a call and she offered to let me make a call inside, while in reality i forwarded her phone to the payphone.

 sike, i say go back and record that shit man.  get a nice 200 dollar set of sennheiser headphones and reverse the cicuit to make them into a microphone, strap it over the ear piece and make like 100 calls.  in fact, ye should find out where the switch is located and just go there... sometimes ye can google the CLLI code and get an address.  ye can get most of the CLLI codes from bells mind.  Wow, that's a neat find, I'd really like to hear that.

Unfortunately it's a long ways from here, I was only there for a wedding (you can bet I was the life of the party, drunkedly abusing the phone system to a rapt audience of future phreaks).

Bell's Mind's NPA/NXX/CLLI lookup doesn't seem to be working. Can I use one to get the other (NPA to get CLLI or something) when it is running?
