Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Newton's third law.
My question is, does this necessarily apply to gun recoil. If you shoot a gun does a bullet hit with the same force as the recoil? Sadly I got this question off the chans under a thread related to a bullet proof mask. Half the people said that it was useless as it would smash your face to pieces by sheer force alone and the other half said it would be a little more powerful then getting hit in the face with recoil of a gun. If any of you have played army of two, you might be thinking about this, too.
I thought since most people here seem to have a pretty firm grounding in science someone might be able to answer my question.

p.s. I forgot that the force would also be less the force of the sound energy, but that would be negible.

I thought since most people here seem to have a pretty firm grounding in science someone might be able to answer my question.

Not sure where you got this idea...but maybe I need to LURK MOAR.

It's the same force, but a bullet is a point, whereas a gun is not, a gun also weighs much more, so the force is applied over a larger area making it dissipate and not be so strong.  If you could have a mask that stops bullets (deflection would be the best route) it would be extremely unpleasant at best and deadly at worst.

So glad I didn't buy it. I would allow myself to be shot if it did. EA fucks up everything. It's like they were all sitting around the table and a developer said "hey guys like take a serious political isue and really make a solid game around it with a good plot, controls, voice acting, and characters. LET'S CHANGE THE WORLD TODAY!" And every just looked at him and laughed saying "hey buddy! This is EA, not some serious game company. But nice idea, let's take a giant shit on it and put it in a case and sell it at $60!"

I remember seeing these facemasks rated IIA or something similar on ebay at one point. I'm not sure the discomfort/dubious functionality outweighs the potential protection, and it's probably a better idea to just AVOID BEING SHOT IN THE HEAD.

Have you never played SSX, NBA Live, FIFA Soccer, Madden, NFL Street, Battlefeild 2, The Sims,  AND THE ORANGE BOX FOR GODS SAKE!!!!!

Have you never played SSX, NBA Live, FIFA Soccer, Madden, NFL Street, Battlefeild 2, The Sims,  AND THE ORANGE BOX FOR GODS SAKE!!!!!

NBA Live, Madden they stopped working on a couple years ago. Now they just polish the graphics and make new box art.
BF2 is DICE, EA had nothing to do with it. The Sims is MAxis plus Will Wright, EA doesn't do anything positive. EA pretty much just buys companies and does nothing with them or even more likely, makes them worse.
EA has zero to do with the Orange Box, Valve just doesn't have the infrastructure to get all the copies of it made and distributed, so they had EA do it.
SSX is only good because it was made before EA started suckling the teet of suck and fail.
