How many licks does it take to get to the center of the tootsie roll tootsie pop?
I'm looking for the official answer here. Not the one proposed by Mr. Owl!

Dear DEADFOOL,

I searched YouTube for the answer... it really is amazing how many people have wondered this exact same thing. It's fun watching tween girls lick for 12 hours ("I can't lick anymore!!") http://www.youtube.com/v/yJ4aoiIMs8M&rel=1 and then talk all funny when they report their results. Or maybe they talk all funny since they're nerdy youtube tweens... anyway...

One of the girls said 14,532 licks and the other had 8,652 licks. Considering these girls both licked over the same 12 hours and had such different results... I am going to say that much depends on the surface area that your tongue can cover. One of these girls is going to be much more popular in high school methinks.

I'd check myself, but I have better things to do with my tongue... like... err... stick it out at you :P

Love,
jammie

Dear nova,

Actually, tweens are a big deal in marketing these days. The definition of a "tween" is usually between 8-12 years old... short for "between" child and teen.

Here is a 12 year old singing to give you an idea of what it's like to be a "tween":
