Meh. There are a ton of services out there offering free conferences. Let me know when one gives away free toll-free conferences.

Google voice in your area code combined with a local landline phone gives you free long distance to anywhere in the U.S. except alaska and hawaii.

What's stopping someone from building a service that supports unlimited calls to another country (prepaid, probably), like putting an Asterisk pbx in each country?

Long distance for myself isn't a problem with my cell phone. I just like toll-free conferences because I don't need to worry about whether or not participants have long-distance restrictions. And, I can use it with payphones.

I believe that is sort of what many VoIP providers do. They set up lines all over the world and link them by Internet so that they get cheaper international rates.

That's what I do, actually. I was fortunate to get an alltel u prepaid phone before verizon closed signups. I can call all I want for 0.75$ per day!

Curiously I recently found an 800 conference bridge by dialing random numbers, but it's pin protected. So far I've guessed 4 digits all the way to 0050. Available by pm if anyone wants to divide the guessing up.

Are you sure it is only four digits? Toll-free conferences typically have long PIN numbers that you couldn't find just by guessing.

I've just been schooled in the way of the force. Yikes, what else do I not know? I really am a newbie.
