What to do about people on my network.
« on: July 10, 2010, 10:11:45 AM »
I'm not a 1337 hacker or anything but when I check my LAN info on my router I see a couple people on my network that I don't know. Before I change my WPA password again, is there anything I can do to mess around with these guys? I don't even know how to kick them off the network or view what kind of traffic they are viewing. I have Wireshark but have no idea how to get the packets to make sense to me. I have dd-wrt firmware, if that matters.

If I noticed someone always breaking into my wireless, I'd turn it off and stop using it.  Can't you set up MAC address filtering to help keep them out?  Maybe turn it off whenever you're not using it to give them less time to break in.

Route all the traffic through a transparent proxy. You can use Squid like this guy and have some fun. Or, even better, use WebScarab as your transparent proxy and edit their HTTP reguests in real time.

If you are using WPA and they got in that means your password sucked. Get a better password.

I leave my router unsecured and perform man in the middle attacks.
