PLA Radio Phone Number?
« on: August 03, 2006, 07:35:40 PM »
You mentioned in one of the podcasts (I think #8) that there is a phone number associated with the podcast, and that people call and leave messages.  Is this true?  If so, can I get the number so I can call?

I call it and leave like 10 messages on it every week, so I know it by heart.

I'm probably going to change the number soon.  That free service I'm using has horrible sound quality.

http://k7.net/ - they let you make personalized numbers.  But they only seem to have phone numbers in the Seattle area.

Mother fucker!  It shows the ANI!  Blocking doesn't work on it.  Shit I would have used a payphone if I would have known that.

What, you're worried that I'm going to do something evil with your number?  I barely even notice the numbers on the messages.  And I just delete all the voicemails once I've heard them and/or put them on the show.  Besides, I don't like talking to you in emails or on Yahoo so I'm sure not going to call you up at home to chat with you.

I've actually found the ANI thing to be useful.  If someone prank calls you, just forward all your calls to voicemail.  When they leave a voicemail, you got their number.

P.S. Speaking of e-mails why don't you ever reply to anything.  I think I sent you 4 diffrent things and 2 months latter no reponce.  Linear hates you for that too (atleast thats the impression I got from #10).

wow rbcp do you actually go to the trouble of dubbing in all the beeps between messages and the "this is the general delivery mailbox, you have new messages" sounds when you play the voicemails in your podcast?

I signed up for a k7 account and played around with IP relay operators (we don't have them in Australia :() and noticed that the k7 service doesn't playback any beeps or voice prompts when you get messages...

bit of an anal question I know, but thought I'd ask  :P

Yeah, I just drop the audio in there from my home answering machine.  It's not much effort at all really.
