Skype Problems
« on: September 26, 2011, 12:04:59 PM »
I just started using Skype and I love it, but the feeling isn't mutual..

It was randomly crashing my computer, forcing a reboot, usually right when I tried to make calls. I did a bunch of googling and it seems a lot of people have these problems but there are never any answers for fixing it. I finally decided its probably because my soundcard is old and the drivers haven't been updated for a long time(and won't be, discontinued).

So I used a different firewire soundcard and its not crashing, but now it randomly stops working, as if the soundcard isn't connected.

Both of the soundcards are professional level audio interfaces..

Just thought someone here may have some insight since everyone uses Skype. I get the feeling I will have to buy a more current soundcard since these are pretty old now, but I'd rather not since they work fine and are really good cards

After doing some additional testing, I think there's just something fucked up with the 2nd soundcard and the first is just old..
