Prank Call Businesses I'm At
« on: April 28, 2011, 01:36:27 PM »
Today r0xy and Rob The Hyena called Subway while I was there for lunch.  As soon as I stepped in line, the phone was ringing and the girl said, "Probably those prank callers again."  There were only 2 employees there for the lunch rush, so they didn't have much time to devote to the phone.  The male employee went into the office to answer and then came out and yelled, "IS THERE A ROY HERE?" several times.

When he came back, a customer was asking him something about it and he said, "Yeah, someone keeps calling here and asking for Roy Gerbil."  This old man in line says, "You should tell them they called the wrong cage!  HAHAHAHAHAHA!"  The phone continued ringing for my entire visit.  At one point they took it off the hook so I got to hear the off-hook tone for about 5 minutes.  While I was eating, they answered again and the girl says, "It's just a bunch of ringing and people saying hello." which is where Rob was connecting dozens of Subways together.  They talked about the calls pretty much nonstop during my 20 minutes there.

Altalp used to do this stuff to me all the time, like when she called Bernadette and  Rusty.  She'd even call me when I wasn't expecting it and places like Target would page my name while I was in the store.  With Rusty she called him a few days later when I was in there again, using an amazing new thing called caller ID spoofing to make the call appear to come from Rusty's home.  Rusty ended up calling the cops, thinking someone had broken into his house to prank call him.  I used to do the same thing to Spessa too, making outrageous calls wherever she happened to be, just so she could tell me about everyone's reactions after they hung up on me.

Oh yeah, I just remembered the time that I called up a hair salon while Jammie was in there and said a bunch of crazy stuff so she could listen to one of the employees rant about my weird call for her entire visit.  And then there's the time that murd0c and Boston Joe called up the movie theater I was at and had 2 movies shut down so they could page me.

Anyway, I was thinking we need to expand upon this and put me (or someone else) in the middle of a prank war zone so I can give live, up-to-the minute reports!  What crazy things could we cause to happen via the telephone where I could be sitting around while it happens?  Mostly I just get to hear people yell Roy Gerbil, but there has to be more to life than that.

Those two movies we got shut down was the first Matrix sequel, on opening night.

Yeah, murd0c, way to half-ass a job!

Here is a writeup of what murd0c did.  Seems like I had a more detailed writeup somewhere else.  We really should do something insane like this to a Foursquare user, only without the whole impersonating the cops thing.

You know, they're talking about making Matrix 4.  I will never ever ever see it.  I can't believe I even watched Matrix 3 (on cable TV, didn't pay for it.)  after seeing Matrix 2, thinking it might have somehow improved.

hahah.. that's pretty funny. I was about to say I can't believe they actually interrupted the movie, until I read the reason he gave them.

I hated the 2nd Matrix so much that I still have not watched part 3 yet, and probably never will.

Aside from a tiny fraction of neat action scenes, you're missing nothing at all.
