NOAA's National Weather Service "All Hazards" Weather Radio.

This is the dial-in number for station KEC63 in Southfield. A station for weather radio in the Detroit/Pontiac (Whitelake).

Pretty Useful. (248) 620-2355

FYI in the "POP CORN" area codes for time you dial area code+767+ any four digits.

for example, in my locale it it (707) 767 1234 or 1345 or 9846 or any random 4 digits you can think of. I dont know about any other area codes though other than 707 and 415.

EDIT: better explanation: The "Time Lady" has the numbers 707-767-0000 all the way through 707-767-9999

BTW: didn't the lady who did all those recordings die in the past 5 years? so sad.

Isn't the POP CORN service being discontinued? I tried a couple of them in my area and got a bunch random businesses.

303-499-7111 Atomic Clock - Colorado number

I knew that voice sounded familiar!

It is possible to pick that up on a shortwave radio.  I used to listen to it 2 or 3 years ago, when my shortwave was still working, in order to find out interesting weather information and to set my clock right every so often when it was a few minutes off :p

I can't remember the frequencies correctly, but I want to say that they're...

5,000Hz
10,000Hz
15,000Hz
20,000Hz

Not necessarily broadcasting on all of the frequencies at one time.  They change depending upon which has the best reception.

I think on every hour they broadcast all the information about the frequencies and the time station.

Just for a random little fun fact:

somewhere in-between 7,000Hz and 8,000Hz are some weird data noises and I always wondered what they were.  It might be in the 7,700's or the 7,200-'s to 7,400's.

I'm honestly surprised these phone numbers are still around anymore in the age of the Internet.
