NOTE: This theory has never been tested; I got as far as needing a FTP server with anonymous access that runs on port 21 ?My ISP blocks port 21 :*(?. I was however able to get access to the FTP server, download a config file and send it to my gmail account from no access at all!! This theory could very well work but until it has been tested it stays a theoy.

Geez, if my ISP blocked port 21 - I'd change providers.  However, you stated you got access - I think an important note to some people would be how you did it.  For example, port 21 may be blocked, but what about port 2121?  Those people using routers can easily accomplish this task by simply assigning a port by using the DMZ function.

Port forwarding does that.

Are you asking what a DMZ is or why he would sugjest it?

DMZ defs HERE
As for why he would sugjest it, maybe he thought it would fool my ISP  ??? it didnt really make sense to me but i have found sometimes its best to just to say,"ok mhm" and nod. Perhaps even back away slowly if needed.   :D

There are advantages to both.  I was just giving one example.
